How to Prepare for Your Disney Cruise to Tasmania (Just 30 Days Out!)

With just over 30 days until we set sail on the Disney Wonder to Tasmania, the excitement is real! 🌊🛳

As the departure date approaches, we’ve discovered a few tips that are super helpful in the final stretch. Disney does an incredible job of keeping you informed and guiding you through the prep—a major perk of being in their well-oiled ecosystem!

This is a first-time cruiser’s perspective on the Disney Wonder! We’ll update this page after the cruise to share any additional insights!

📱 What to Do When App Reservations Open (Don’t Miss Out!)

Whether you’re a first-timer (like us!) or a seasoned Disney cruiser, the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app becomes your best friend! As soon as reservations open—75 days before boarding for first-timers—make these bookings a priority:

  • “it’s a small world” nursery!: If you have young children (6 months to 3 years old) and need a few hours to explore adult activities or catch a show, make sure to reserve nursery time. Spots fill up quickly!
  • Schedule Adult Dining at Palo: We’re celebrating a birthday and an anniversary, so we booked brunch (another chance to utilize the nursery! 😉).
  • Lock in Onboard Activities: From tastings to spa treatments, book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Excursions: Look into what’s available at your destination! In Tasmania, they offer wildlife tours and unique experiences specific to the location.

💸 Understanding Tipping on a Disney Cruise

Tipping is an important part of the cruise experience. We found some helpful explanations in various Facebook and Reddit threads. Since this is a U.S.-operated cruise line, everything onboard is priced in USD. Here’s how tipping works:

  • Onboard Tipping: Disney Cruise Line automatically adds gratuities for your stateroom host/hostess, dining staff, and assistants. These gratuities will appear on your bill and are based on the length of your cruise.
  • Pre-Tipping Option: You can prepay your gratuities before boarding, which might help with budgeting.
  • Post-Cruise Tipping: If you receive exceptional service, feel free to provide additional cash tips to the staff who made your experience extra special. Don’t forget to tip the porters who handle your luggage at embarkation and debarkation.

Disney’s Q&A page offers more detailed information on tipping, along with any exceptions.
